Open Question: Is there a way to get rid of an arrest warrant for a misdemeanor from nine years ago?

If some has an arrest warrant out for them for a misdemeanor charge that they have forgotten about...is there a way to get rid of them since it's nine years old? The defendant was 19 at the time of arrest. He lived out of state for 6 years in between and once he moved back to Connecticut he was contacted by a friend at the police department informing him that there was a warrant out and he should turn himself in.
